Honey and Avocado Facial Masque

The other morning while surfing the Internet and looking into different websites, I came across a recipe for a facial masque. What caught my attention were the avocados...knowing that I had 4 in my fruit bowl on the counter that were getting to the point of being almost too ripe, and the fact that I am just minutes away from the Avocado capitol of the world! (Fallbrook, Ca). So I decided to try it out! Where I live, you can buy avocados on the side of the road, the farmer's market, the grocery store, and many people have trees in their yards. So sometimes I have a huge surplus of them. I can only eat so much guacamole and put it on sandwiches and salads! So, the recipe calls for 1/2 Avocado (I used my favorite, which is a Haas Avo) and 1/4 cup of honey. (I used clover honey, since that is what I had on the shelf). I mashed up the avos and then added the honey. I then took one of those little hand whippers and whipped it a lot, infusing some air into it. The final product was a little runny...so I would recommend a little less honey. I then went into the bathroom and put a towel around my neck...in case of any drips. And I began slathering it onto my face. I put a nice thick layer and then had a lot left over, so I decided to put it on my hair too! I looked very scary! I then decided to kill some time by cleaning the rather large dirty bathtub...while the masque was soaking into my pores and hair follicles. After about 30 minutes, I jumped in the shower and washed it off. Wow..my face felt completely moisturized! I had this dewy feel to my face and a dewy look all day long! I didn't use any toner, as I didn't want to remove the oils that the masque had left on my skin... but I followed it up with a vitamin C treatment, which I purchased from The Body Shop (look for another article on this line). It really didn't do anything for my hair...but hair was not mentioned in the recipe...so that was just me experimenting! If you have mature skin or dry skin, I would give this masque a 8 out of 10 stars! You could keep the mixture tightly sealed in the fridge for a few days. You might also add a capsule of Vitamin E to it, as that acts as a natural preservative and I am sure the Vitamin E would be good for your facial skin too!
